For this project we had the assignment to make a one-minute movie. We were completely free to decide on the theme and content of the film. And so we chose the theme friendship.
The story is about two friends who both live in the same village, but one of the girls is about to move to the city. Our film depicts a brief moment between the two in which you can see their relationship and feelings about the move.
We have expressed these differences in direction in physical images, which is why we have opted for minimal text and subtle visual language. The tree in the middle symbolizes the strong, deep friendship between the two. The girls sit with their backs to each other and both look in different directions, showing their differences in direction. They are also never both in the same shot when they are talking, which we did for clarity. During filming, we focused mainly on the image layout. When Femke talks, she is on the left side of the image. When Kirsten talks, she is on the right side of the image.
During the filming process i had the role of director.
